[BLOG UNDER CONSTRUCTION]
Kicking and Screaming
And we’re back.
I tried for a long time to have a running Blogger. Back in the days before the content-churn grabbed hold of blogging as a platform, I used to post movie reviews, actual play sessions, development journals for games-which-never-came-to-be, etc. You can still find it at vorpalwords.blogspot.com, but everybody I know has a Substack now, so here we are.
I’ll be posting some fiction. I’ll be posting some reviews. I’ll be doing at least one large-scale read-through of a young adult science fiction space opera series. Game design debriefs? Movie reviews? It might start veering into journal entries. I don’t know.
You’re welcome to hang out.
On some level, I question whether I’m constructed properly to live in an era where your success doesn’t hinge on the quality of your work, but on the quantity of your output. Obviously being prolific has helped in the past, with authors like Tom Clancy and Stephen King pumping book after book into public libraries and airport bookstores. Hell, even these days, authors like Brandon Sanderson print enough doorstoppers to please the world’s cat population.
It’s a whole different beast to enter into the content mill and establish that persona for yourself, especially as someone who had to work prodigiously to carve their introverted form into the facade of an extrovert. My previous attempts at continuous non-fiction output (check out the corpse of my blog at vorpalwords.blogspot.com) shrivel after a few weeks of half-attention. So here I am, trying again, making an attempt at holding myself accountable.
The Animorphs series review starts later this week.
Don’t mind the dust.
